49 – Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn narrated to me; Muḥammad b. Sinān al-Bāhilī narrated to me. He said: “Manṣūr al-Ṭufāwī was a devoted worshipper who lived on very little. One of his neighbours told me that he once came to Manṣūr and complained about the harshness of the times. Manṣūr replied:

‘Let tomorrow be like your present day, and let today resemble the lifetime that has already slipped away. Ask Allah to choose what is best for you in all your affairs, for He is the Giver and He is the Withholder.’”
