41 – Muḥammad narrated to me; Muʿādh Abū ʿAwn al-Ḍarīr narrated to us; he said:
“I used to sit near the cemetery, and Riyaḥ al-Qaysī would pass by me after the sunset prayer, once the roads were empty. I could hear him sobbing and saying,
‘How long, O night and O day, will you go on diminishing my allotted span while I remain heedless of what is destined for me? Truly, to Allah we belong; to Allah we belong.’
He went on like that until his face vanished from my sight.”
