35 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to me; Jaʿfar ibn ʿAwn narrated to us, saying: “I used to hear Masʿar recite this line of poetry:
[al-Baḥr al-Kāmil] (the Kamil metre)
‘The close companions will not remain together for long—
night bears down upon them, and so does day.’”
٣٥ - حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ مُسْعِرًا يَتَمَثَّلُ بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ: «
[البحر الكامل]
لَنْ يَلْبَثَ الْقَرْنَاءُ أَنْ يَتَفَرَّقُوا ... لَيْلٌ يَكِرُّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَنَهَارُ»
