24 – ʿUmar ibn Saʿid ibn Sulayman al-Maqdisi narrated to us; Saʿid ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah, who said: Abu al-Dardaʾ said: “O son of Adam, tread the earth with your foot, for before long it will become your grave. O son of Adam, you are nothing but a collection of days; whenever one day departs, a part of you departs with it. O son of Adam, your lifetime has been eroding since the moment your mother gave you birth.”
