1 – Khālid ibn Khidāsh ibn ‘Ajlān and Khalaf ibn Hishām al-Bazzār narrated to us. They said: Abū ‘Awānah narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Khulayḍ ibn ‘Abd Allāh al-‘Aṣarī, from Abū al-Dardā’. Khalaf added: Abū ‘Awānah said, “Some of our companions transmitted it as marfūʿ (traced back to the Prophet), but I myself did not memorise it as marfūʿ.” He said:
“Never has the sun risen without two angels standing at its flanks and calling out—so loudly that everyone on earth hears them except the two weighty orders (humankind and jinn): ‘People! Come to your Lord. What is little yet sufficient is better than what is abundant yet distracting.’ Likewise, the sun has never set without two angels standing at its flanks and calling out—so loudly that everyone on earth hears them except the two weighty orders: ‘O Allah, grant swift replacement to the one who spends, and hasten ruin for the one who withholds.’”
Azhar ibn Marwān al-Raqāshī narrated to me: ‘Abd al-A‘lā ibn ⦗14⦘ ‘Abd al-A‘lā narrated to us, from Sa‘īd ibn Abī ‘Arūbah, from Qatādah, from Khulayḍ al-‘Aṣarī, from Abū al-Dardā’, from the Prophet ﷺ with the same wording.
