Dhamm al-Ghiba wa-l-NamimaIbn Abi al-Dunya

82 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; ʿUthmān ibn Maṭar informed me, from Thābit, from Anas:

A man came toward the Prophet ﷺ while he was sitting in a circle of companions. The people there had just spoken ill of him, yet the Prophet ﷺ greeted him warmly. When the man left, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The lowest of people in standing on the Day of Resurrection is the one whose tongue—or whose evil—others fear.”
