64 – Ahmad ibn Saʿīd al-Dārimī narrated to me; al-Aṣmaʿī narrated to us, from his father, who said: Whenever a man was mentioned in the presence of al-Aḥnaf ibn Qays, he would say, “Leave him be; let him eat the provision allotted to him until his appointed term overtakes him.” Al-Aṣmaʿī also reported—through a transmitter other than his father—that al-Aḥnaf said, “Leave him be; let him eat his provision—his peer will deal with him.”
