53 – Aḥmad b. Manīʿ narrated to us; Muḥammad b. Yazīd al-Wāsiṭī narrated to us; Juwaybir informed us, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk, regarding the Almighty’s words, “And do not slander one another” (Qur’an 49:11). He said: “Lamz means namīmah (carrying tales from one person to another).”
٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا جُوَيْبِرٌ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، فِي قَوْلِهِ ﴿وَلَا تَلْمِزُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ﴾ [الحجرات: ١١] قَالَ: " اللَّمْزُ: النَّمِيمَةُ "
