43 – Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; Saʿid ibn ʿAmir informed us; from al-Rabiʿ ibn Sabih:
“Two men were sitting at one of the gates of the Sacred Mosque when a man who appeared effeminate passed by. They let him go on, but then remarked, ‘There is still something of that in him.’ When the prayer was called they entered and prayed with the congregation, yet their consciences were pricked by what they had said. They went to ʿAtaʾ and asked him about it. He instructed them to repeat their ablution and their prayer, and since they had been fasting he also ordered them to make up the fast of that day.”
