17 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father and Ahmad ibn Maniʿ also narrated to me; they said: Marwān ibn Shujāʿ narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Karīm ibn Abī Umayyah, who said: “A God-fearing person has never once entered into contentious debate—meaning, in matters of religion.”
