16 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn al-ʿĀmirī narrated to us; Abū al-Naḍr Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us, from al-Ashjaʿī; al-Rabīʿ ibn al-Mallāḥ narrated to us. He said: I heard Abū Jaʿfar say, “Beware of contentious disputes, for they erode the very core of the religion.” Someone who also heard him added that he said, “They give rise to rancor and extinguish diligent striving.”
