163 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us; he reported from Bishr ibn al-Sarī, who said: Manṣūr ibn Zādhān said,
“When one of my brothers meets me, I am delighted—so long as he neither distresses me with anything about my friend nor conveys to me the backbiting of someone who has spoken ill of me. Even so, I remain on guard in my companion’s presence until he leaves, fearing that he might commit a sin and make me share in it.”
