Dhamm al-Ghiba wa-l-NamimaIbn Abi al-Dunya

149 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Badr narrated to me; Rawḥ ibn ʿUbādah informed us, from Mubārak, from al-Ḥasan—may Allah have mercy on him—who said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When people mock others, a gate of Paradise will be opened for one of them and it will be announced, ‘Come!’ He sets off burdened by his distress and sorrow, but as soon as he draws near the gate is shut in his face. Then another gate is opened and he is told, ‘Come!’ He comes with his distress and sorrow, yet when he arrives it is closed before him. This continues until a man has a gate opened for him and he is called, ‘Come, come!’—but he never reaches it.”
