Abd Allah narrated to us; Abu Khaythama and al-Qawariri likewise narrated to us. They said: Yahya al-Qattan narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Sulayman ibn Atiq informed me, from Talq ibn Habib, from al-Ahnaf ibn Qays, from Abd Allah ibn Masʿud (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who declared: “Beware! Those who indulge in hair-splitting excess have perished”—and he repeated this three times.
