129 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Zuhayr b. Muʿāwiyah informed us, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAmr b. Maymūn, who said:
“When Moses—peace be upon him—hastened to his Lord, he saw, in the shade of the Throne, a man and admired the rank allotted to him. He said, ‘This man is surely honoured before his Lord, Glorified and Exalted.’ So he asked his Lord to tell him the man’s name, but He did not disclose it. Instead He said, ‘I will tell you about him ⦗39⦘ in three matters: he never envied people for what Allah, Most High, had granted them of His bounty; he never disobeyed his parents; and he never walked about spreading malicious gossip.’”
