ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim ibn Bassam narrated to us; Salih al-Murri narrated to us, from Saʿid al-Jurayri, from Abu ʿUthman al-Nahdi, from Abu Hurayrah—may Allah be pleased with him—who said:
“The most beloved of you to Allah are those with the best character: those who are gentle and accommodating, who get along with others and with whom others get along. The most detested of you to Allah are the ones who walk about spreading gossip, who sow discord between brothers, and who seek to burden the innocent ⦗36⦘ with hardship.”
