14 – Al-ʿAbbās narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Muʿāwiya ibn ʿAmīra ibn Baḥūsh al-Kindī, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:

A herald was heard in the depth of the night calling out, “O people of Iyād! You have plunged into corruption; set out, then, for a sound land, for there is no returning to Tihāmah.”

The elder said to them, “I warned you already. By Allah, this calamity will not leave you, and you will be overtaken by utter ruin.⦗62⦘”

He went on: “They left Tihāmah and divided into three groups. One band settled with Banū Asad ibn Ḥarāmah at Dhū Tuwa—the smallest of the three. A second band made for ʿAyn Abāgh; it was the larger of the first two. The remaining majority travelled on until they settled in Sind.

The affliction was then lifted from them; they flourished there and grew numerous, and they remained so in great numbers until Anūsharwān ibn Qibād marched against them at Sāmurrāta and annihilated them.”
