1 – Our shaykh Abū al-Ḥusayn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Ḥimmānī—may Allah have mercy on him—told us, saying: The shaykh, the ḥāfiẓ, Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī ibn Thābit al-Khaṭīb al-Baghdādī narrated to us; he said: Abū al-Ḥusayn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bishrān al-Muʿaddil informed us while the text was read to him over seven nights ⦗46⦘ in Muḥarram of the year 414 AH; he said: Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn Ṣafwān al-Bardhaʿī informed us during a recitation to him in Shawwāl of the year 339 AH; he said: Abū Bakr ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd ibn Abī al-Dunyā narrated to us; he said: ⦗47⦘ ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: Shuʿbah informed us, from ʿUyaynah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, who said: I heard my father relate from Abū Bakrah that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said, “No sin is more likely ⦗48⦘ to make Allah hasten punishment for its perpetrator in this world—together with what He has stored up for him in the Hereafter—than severing the bonds of kinship and committing transgression.”
