32 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ corroborated; from al-Ḥakam ibn Ẓuhayr; from Yaḥyā ibn al-Mukhtār; from al-Ḥasan, who said:

“Among the signs of a Muslim are: strength in religion, resolve tempered by gentleness, faith grounded in certainty, forbearance guided by knowledge, intelligence allied with kindness, giving where a right is due, moderation in affluence ⦗48⦘, dignified bearing in poverty, benevolence while in power, obedience accompanied by sincere counsel, piety amid desire, chastity in hardship, and patience in adversity. His cravings do not destroy him; his tongue does not get ahead of him; his glance does not outpace him; his private parts do not overpower him; whim does not sway him; his stomach does not disgrace him; greed does not make light of him; and his intention never falls short.”
