26 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Jabalah narrated to us; Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Muqriʾ narrated to us; Saʿid ibn Abi Ayyub narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hilal, from ʿUbayd Allah ibn Abi Jaʿfar:

A man was stricken with an illness that deprived him of food and sleep. One night, while he lay awake ⦗44⦘, he heard a sudden thud in his chamber, after which a voice spoke. He listened, committed the words to memory, repeated them, and was cured on the spot. The words were:

“O Allah, I worship You and to You I pray. Grant healing to my body, certitude in my heart, light in my sight, gratitude within my breast, and remembrance of You night and day upon my tongue for as long as You keep me alive. Provide for me from Your bounty a provision that is neither withheld nor denied.”
