11 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Hārūn ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ⦗36⦘ Ḥajjāj ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; Abū Hilāl Muḥammad ibn Sulaym narrated to us; from Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Muzanī, who said:

“The disciples once lost track of their Prophet, Jesus (peace be upon him). Someone told them, ‘He has gone toward the sea.’ They set out in search of him, and when they reached the shoreline, there he was, coming toward them, walking upon the water. The waves lifted him up at one moment and set him down the next, while he wore a cloak—half of it draped over his shoulders, the other half wrapped round his waist. When he drew near, one of them—Abū Hilāl said, ‘I think he was among their most virtuous’—asked, ‘Shall I come to you, O Prophet of Allah?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’

So the man placed one foot on the water and was about to set down the other, but he cried out, ‘I am sinking, O Prophet of Allah!’ Jesus said, ‘Give me your hand, O you of little faith. If the son of Adam possessed even a barley grain’s measure of certitude, he could walk upon the water.’”
