Tarajuat al-AlbaniAbu al-Hassan al-Sheikh

Example Sixteen:
Hadith no. 195, p. 301
Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Daʿifah, no. 2294:
“When Allah intends evil for a servant, He makes bricks and clay look attractive to him until he goes ahead and builds.”
(weak)

The compiler quoted the report word-for-word and placed it under the section “From authentication to weakening.” By Allah, I cannot see any prior authentication that was later reversed to a verdict of weakness.

In fact, the hadith has always been weak—whether in its documentation in al-Rawd al-Nadir (no. 179) thirty years ago, or in al-Daʿifah, no. 2294.
