Tarajuat al-AlbaniAbu al-Hassan al-Sheikh

Example Eight:
Hadith: “al-udhunān mina al-raʾs” (“The two ears are part of the head”).

The author cites this report in his book three times:

  1. First—under the section “From Authentication to Grading Ḥasan,” no. 121, p. 195.
  2. Second—under the section “From Authentication to Weakening,” no. 179, p. 280.
  3. Third—under the section “Corrections,” no. 218, p. 329.

In truth, this ḥadith deserves to be placed only under the first section, notwithstanding our comments on that category. The reason is simply that the reality is as follows: the Shaykh—may Allah have mercy on him—discovered certain defects in some of the chains, so he moved from declaring the ḥadith ṣaḥīḥ to grading it ḥasan on account of the abundance of supporting routes.
