The Praise of Senior Scholars for Shaykh Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī—may Allah the Exalted have mercy on him:
Shaykh Muḥammad Ḥāmid al-Fiqī said:
“The Salafī brother, the meticulous researcher, Shaykh Nāṣir al-Dīn.”
Shaykh Ibn Bāz said:
“I have no doubt about his knowledge, his virtue, the breadth of his reading, and his devotion to the Sunnah. May Allah increase him in knowledge and success.”
Shaykh Ibn Bāz also said:
“I have not seen, beneath the span of heaven, anyone in this age more knowledgeable of ḥadīth than the erudite scholar Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī.”
Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn said:
“…the eminent ḥadīth scholar of Greater Syria, the esteemed Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī. From the little time I spent with him I found him intensely keen on acting upon the Sunnah and combating innovation, whether in creed or in practice. From my reading of his writings I learned the same: that he possesses abundant knowledge of ḥadīth, both in transmission and in understanding, and that Allah Most High has enabled many people to benefit from what he authored—benefit in knowledge, in methodology, and in turning people toward the science of ḥadīth. He is a tremendous gain for the Muslims, and praise belongs to Allah.
As for his academic investigations in ḥadīth, they are beyond praise—though at times he shows some leniency in elevating certain reports to a grade of ḥasan or ṣaḥīḥ, without noting that the text might be anomalous (1) and at variance with other reports as sound as mountains and with the general principles of the Sharīʿah.
In any case, the man has far-reaching expertise, encyclopedic knowledge, and powerful reasoning. Everyone’s words may be accepted or rejected except those of Allah and His Messenger… We ask Allah the Exalted to increase the likes of him within the Muslim community.”
