Reviewed and introduced by: Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Ḥakīm al-Qāḍī
Publisher: Dār Ibn Rajab
Number of ḥadīths: 307
Abridged and supplied with four prefaces by: the servant who hopes for his Lord’s pardon
Explanation of the method followed in abridging the book for Shamela 2
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
First notice
Four prefaces have been added:
Preface One: an explanation of the method followed in abridging the book for Shamela 2.
Preface Two: the commendations of leading scholars for Shaykh Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī.
Preface Three: the reliance of Islamic bodies and academic assemblies upon al-Albānī.
Preface Four: demonstrating that the author of “al-Iʿlām” fell into the very criticisms he directed at others.
After these, the sections of the book follow in the same order as the printed edition.
Second notice
If, for example, the author states that Imām al-Albānī authenticated a ḥadīth in four separate works, this abridgement generally suffices with one reference, for two reasons:
- That is enough to achieve the aim, namely to learn the first and the final ruling on the ḥadīth.
- The typing was done single-handedly on a keyboard—yet the help came from Allah Most High—for the benefit of the Muslims.
Third notice
For the sake of brevity the following abbreviations are used whenever possible:
Kh: Imām al-Bukhārī
M: Imām Muslim
D: Imām Abū Dāwūd
S: Imām al-Nasāʾī
J: Imām Ibn Mājah
T: Imām al-Tirmidhī
Baz: Imām al-Bazzār
Qat: Imām al-Dāraquṭnī
Hab: Imām Ibn Ḥibbān
H: al-Ḥākim
Khz: Imām Ibn Khuzaymah
Ṭ: Imām al-Ṭabarānī
Yaʿ: Imām Abū Yaʿlā
Hq: Imām al-Bayhaqī
Fourth notice
If you come across, for instance, the following format:
Ṣaḥīḥ: al-Silsilah al-Ṣaḥīḥah (123)
then
Ḍaʿīf: al-Silsilah al-Ḍaʿīfah (237)
this means that the first verdict is “sound,”
and the most recent verdict is “weak.”
Remember us in your prayers.
