18/ Abū Lubābah ibn ʿAbd al-Mundhir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Friday is the master of the days and the most magnificent of them in Allah’s sight. It is greater with Allah than the Day of Sacrifice and the Day of Breaking Fast. It contains five distinctions: on it Allah created Adam; on it He sent Adam down to the earth; on it He caused Adam to die; on it there is an hour in which no servant asks Allah for anything—so long as he does not ask for what is unlawful—without Allah granting it; and on it the Hour will be established. There is no angel who is near, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain, and no sea except that all of them are apprehensive of the Day of Friday.”
• Weak (ḍaʿīf).
• The Shaykh graded it good in Ṣaḥīḥ Sunan Ibn Mājah and in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ 4043.
• He nevertheless declared it weak in Ḍaʿīf al-Targhīb 424.
19/ Abū al-Dardāʾ (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stated:
“Send abundant blessings upon me every Friday, for that day is witnessed—the angels attend it—and no one sends blessings upon me but that his prayer is presented to me until he completes it.” I asked, “Even after death?” He replied, “Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the prophets, peace be upon them.”
• Sound by corroboration (ḥasan li-ghayrih).
• The Shaykh had first ruled it weak in Ḍaʿīf Sunan Ibn Mājah and in Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ 1116.
• He later classed it good by corroboration in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb 1672.
20/ Mukhnif ibn Sulaym related: While we were standing with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at ʿArafāt, I heard him proclaim, “O people, every household is required each year to offer a sacrifice and an ʿatirah. Do you know what the ʿatirah is? It is what you call the rajabiyyah (the offering made in Rajab).”
• Good (ḥasan).
• The Shaykh had first considered it weak in al-Jāmiʿ 6383, then later declared it good in the Sunan.
21/ Abū Mūsā (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“No servant is afflicted by a mishap—large, small, or anything in between—except because of a sin; yet what Allah pardons is far more.” He then recited, “Whatever calamity befalls you is because of what your own hands have earned, and He pardons much” (al-Shūrā 42:30).
• The Shaykh remarked in the Sunan: its chain is weak.
• He later graded it good in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ 7732.
22/ It is authentically reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sprinkled [water] upon the grave of his son Ibrāhīm.

24/ Ḥubshī ibn Junādah al-Sulūlī said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during the Farewell Pilgrimage while he was standing at ʿArafah. A Bedouin came, seized the edge of his cloak and requested it, so he gave it to him and the man departed. It was then that begging was declared unlawful. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Begging is not lawful for a wealthy man, nor for one who is strong and able-bodied; it is only permitted for one in crushing poverty or burdened by overwhelming debt. Whoever asks of people in order to enrich his wealth will come on the Day of Resurrection with claw-marks upon his face and eating heated stones from Hellfire. Let whoever wishes, ask little; and let whoever wishes, ask much.”
• Sound by corroboration (ṣaḥīḥ li-ghayrih).
• The Shaykh had initially judged it weak in Ḍaʿīf al-Sunan and in Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ 1781, then later affirmed in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb 802 that it is sound by corroboration.
25/ Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
A man from the Anṣār came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asking for help. He asked, “Do you have anything at home?” The man answered, “Yes: a coarse cloth—part of which we wear and part we spread—and a wooden cup from which we drink water.” He said, “Bring them to me.” When the man did so, the Prophet took them in his hand and announced, “Who will buy these two items?” A man said, “I will take them for one dirham.” He asked twice or thrice, “Who will offer more than a dirham?” Another man said, “I will take them for two dirhams.” He gave them to him, took the two dirhams and handed them to the Anṣārī, saying, “Buy food with one of them and give it to your family, and buy an adze with the other and bring it to me.” When he brought it, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fitted a handle to it with his own hand and said, “Go out, gather firewood and sell it, and do not let me see you for fifteen days.” The man went, collected firewood and sold it; when he returned he had earned ten dirhams, with which he bought clothing and food. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “This is better for you than that begging should be a stain on your face on the Day of Resurrection. [Begging is permissible only for three: one in crushing poverty, one overwhelmed by debt, or one liable for painful blood-money.]”
• The portion enclosed in brackets is authentic.
• The Shaykh graded the overall report weak in Ḍaʿīf al-Sunan, but authenticated the wording “Begging is permissible only for three…” in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Targhīb 834.

• The Shaykh authenticated it in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ 4971 and Mukhtaṣar al-Shamāʾil 260.
• He later deemed it weak in the Sunan and in Tamām al-Minna 414–415, both of which were compiled after the earlier two works.
29/ ʿĀmir ibn Masʿūd related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
