295 – When he entered the mosque he would send blessings and peace upon Muhammad and say, “Lord, forgive me my sins and open for me the gates of Your mercy.” When he left, he would again send blessings and peace upon Muhammad and say, “Lord, forgive me my sins and open for me the gates of Your bounty.”
Reported by al-Tirmidhī, Aḥmad, and Ibn Mājah. In the wording of the latter two it states: “When he entered the mosque—and likewise when he departed—he would say: ‘In the name of Allah, and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah,’” in place of “send blessings and peace upon Muhammad.”
First ruling: weak — Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ (4394).
Final ruling: sound, excluding what is between the brackets — Ṣaḥīḥ al-Tirmidhī (314).
