94 – Suraij and Ishaq b. Ismaʿil narrated to us; they said: Hushaym related to us, from Mansur, from al-Hasan, who said:
When death drew near to Salman he began to weep. Someone said to him, “What makes you weep, Abu ʿAbd Allah, when you are a Companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?” He answered, “I am not weeping out of distress for this world. Rather, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, bound us with a covenant, and we have neglected it. He told us that the sufficiency of any one of us in this world should be like the provision of a mounted traveler.”
When Salman passed away, they examined what he had left behind and found its total value to be thirty dirhams.
