Al-ZuhdIbn Abi al-Dunya

56 – Abu Bakr al-Sufi related to me; he said: I heard Abu Muʿāwiyah ⦗45⦘ al-Aswad saying, “If you, Abu Muʿāwiyah, truly seek the magnificent reward for your own soul, then do not sleep at night and do not lapse into heedlessness. Send your righteous deeds on ahead and leave aside the multitude of distractions. Act swiftly before the very thing you dread arrives. And do not fret about the provisions of those you will leave behind, for you have not been tasked with providing their sustenance.”
