554 – Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to me, from a shaykh who was a client of the Banū Hāshim, who said: al-Ḥasan remarked, “A people once exalted the dunyā (this worldly life), and it crucified them upon the wood. So treat it with contempt, for the happiest you will ever be is when you hold it in contempt.”
