549 – Mūsā Abū ʿImrān al-Jassāṣ related to us: I heard Abū Sulaymān ⦗233⦘ al-Dārānī say,
“It befits the servant who is truly concerned for his own soul to extinguish from his heart this hasty, perishing, vanishing worldly life—so troubled by calamities—and to remember death and all that comes after it: the terrors, the loss, the regret, the standing before Allah and His questioning, and the passage over the Bridge (sirāt) above the Fire. When he does so, turning away from the abode of delusion becomes easy for him.”
