540 – Abū ʿAbdillāh the Imām narrated to me. He said, “I heard Ibn Abī al-Ḥawārī say, ‘I heard Abū Sulaymān say:
“If a man were to enter upon one of the kings of this world and the king said, ‘Ask me for whatever you wish,’ and the man replied, ‘I ask you for a single carrot,’ would anyone call that prudent? By Allah, the entire world is of less worth to Allah than that carrot is to the king.”’”
