539 – A man of the Banū Tamīm related to me: One of the sages observed, “The world does everything to make us loathe it, yet we still cling to it with love—so what would happen if it actually tried to endear itself to us?”
٥٣٩ - حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ قَالَ: قَالَ بَعْضُ الْحُكَمَاءِ: «الدُّنْيَا تُبَغِّضُ إِلَيْنَا نَفْسَهَا وَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّهَا، فَكَيْفَ لَوْ تَحَبَّبَتْ إِلَيْنَا؟»
