533 – Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah reported to us, from Aslam ibn ʿAbd al-Malik, who said that he heard Saʿid ibn Abi al-Hasan mention on the authority of Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“You are today upon a clear proof from your Lord: you enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and strive in the path of Allah. At this very moment you stand upon a clear proof from your Lord; the two intoxications have not yet appeared among you— the intoxication of ignorance and the intoxication of worldly ease. On that day, those who act by the Book, both in private and in public, the earliest followers from the Emigrants and the Helpers shall have the reward of the virtuous.”

They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, from us or from them?” He replied, “Rather, from you.”

Abu Bakr said: It was asked of one of the sages, “Who among people possesses the loftiest aspiration and the truest intention?” He answered, “The one whose eye takes in the whole world, yet whose occupation is devoted to seeking Paradise.”
