492 – Al-Haytham ibn Khārijah narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān transmitted, saying: I heard ʿUmayr ibn Hāniʾ al-ʿAnsī say: I asked Ibn ʿUmar, “What is your view of us and of those people?” He answered, “I am not one to flatter you, nor will I act treacherously toward them. You are folk of this world, striving with one another for it, and you will plunge into the Fire as flies plunge into broth.” I said, “What do you advise?” He replied, “If you wish.” I said, “Tell me—do you have a saddle? Then return to your saddle.”
