484 – Abu al-Fadl related to me; he said: Muhammad ibn al-Tufayl narrated to us; he said: I heard Fudayl ibn ʿIyad say, “Grief over worldly things, for the sake of the world, wipes out concern for the Hereafter; and delight in worldly things, for the sake of the world, strips away the sweetness of worship.”
