481 – ʿUbayd Allah al-Azdi narrated to me; he said: Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr related to us; he said: Bishr ibn ʿAbbad narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Shayban, who said: Khalid ibn Sumayr reported to us:

Ibn ʿUmar passed through Mecca and saw Najdah and Ibn al-Zubayr drawn up opposite each other on the Batḥāʾ plain. He asked, “What is this?” They answered, “That is Najdah and Ibn al-Zubayr.” He replied, “How greatly these men have magnified the world!”
