479 – ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Salih related to me; he said: Shuʿayb ibn Rashid related to me, from Abu Ruh al-Ansari, who said: Among the supplications of al-Husayn ibn ʿAli ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was this:

“O Allah, grant me a longing for the Hereafter until I perceive its truth within my heart through my detachment from this world. O Allah, bless me with clear sight regarding the Hereafter so that I pursue good deeds out of yearning and flee from sins out of fear.”
