473 – Salamah ibn Shabib narrated to me, from Zuhayr ibn ʿAbbād, from Dāwūd ibn Hilāl, who said: Allah, Exalted is He, revealed to David, peace be upon him: ⦗202⦘ “What have the hearts of My beloved ones to do with worldly anxiety? Grief over the world drains the sweetness of conversing with Me from their hearts, draining it away. O David, do not place between Me and you a scholar whom the world has intoxicated, for his drunkenness will veil you from My love. Such people are highwaymen who block the road of My servants who seek Me.”
