471 – Salamah narrated to me, saying: Sahl ibn ʿĀṣim narrated to us; he said: ʿAbdah ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; he said: Khālid ibn Yazīd ibn Muʿāwiyah said:

“Son of Adam, do not let family distract you. You are only a guest among them, while you have another household that you will never leave. Nor should dwellings absorb your attention; you occupy them only for the span of your lifetime, whereas there are dwellings in which you will abide forever. Son of Adam, on the Day of Resurrection you will inhabit nothing except what you build today, and that day you will settle upon whatever provisions you have transferred ahead during your life.”
