443 – Muḥammad narrated to me. He said: Muʿādh Abū ʿAwn al-Ḍarīr (the Blind) narrated to us. He said:
“I used to stay close to the cemetery. Rīyāḥ al-Qaysī would pass by me after sunset, once the road was empty, and I would hear him sobbing and saying, ‘How long, O night and day, will you keep chipping away at my span while I remain heedless of what is destined for me? We belong to Allah, we belong to Allah…’ He would go on like that until he disappeared from my sight.”
