430 – Muhammad ibn al-Husayn related to me; he said: al-Humaydi narrated to me, from Sufyan, who said: They reported from one of the sages that he used to say: ⦗188⦘
“The days are three:
Yesterday is a departing sage; it has left with you the admonition of its wisdom, keeping for you its lesson and its counsel.
Today is a visiting friend—long had it been absent from you; it has come to you, though you did not go to it, yet it is swift in taking its leave of you.
And as for tomorrow, you do not know whether you will be numbered among its folk or not.”
