43 – Suraij ibn Yunus narrated to me; he said: ⦗38⦘ Marwan ibn Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, from an elder of Banū Bakr ibn Wāʾil, from al-Ḥasan, conveying the same report. He then recited these two verses: “When they forgot what they had been reminded of…” (7:165) up to His words, “All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds” (6:45). Al-Ḥasan said, “The people were deceived—by the Lord of the Kaʿbah! Their request was granted, only for them to be seized afterward.”
