422 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to me; he said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad related to us; he said: I heard an elder of the Rabīʿah tribe say: A sage once remarked:

“Yesterday is a witness: it has left you bereft of itself, yet it has placed its wisdom in your hands. Today is a day that was long in coming, but its departure will be swift. As for tomorrow, you do not know where its watering place will be. So beware that the testimony of two days should unite against you.”
