41 – ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Abī Maryam narrated to us, from Shadhān, from Ḥammād ibn Salamah, from Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī, who said:
“My grandfather had a servant named Ziyād who would teach his children. The old man grew drowsy, and while he dozed, Ziyād began speaking to them about the life of this world. The elder was still listening, so he said, ‘Ziyād, you have pitched the Devil’s pavilion over my sons—pull it down with the remembrance of Allah.’”
