398 – Muhammad ibn al-ʿAbbas related to me, saying: Muhammad ibn ʿUmar ibn al-Kumayt narrated to us, saying: I heard Dawud ibn Yahya ibn Yaman, from his father, who said:
Moses, peace be upon him, once passed by a man who had died. Beneath the man’s head lay a single brick, while his head and beard were buried in the dust. Moses said, “My Lord, this servant of Yours has been abandoned.” Allah replied, “O Moses, when I turn My Face toward one of My servants, I fold the entire world away from him, every last bit of it.”
