369 – Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Thaqafi related to me. He said: One of the sages observed, “I am astonished at a person who grieves when his wealth diminishes yet does not grieve when his lifespan ebbs away. I am likewise astonished at someone from whom the world is turning its back while the Hereafter is advancing toward him, yet he busies himself with the departing and turns away from the approaching.”
