349 – Khālid ibn Khidāsh al-Muhallabī narrated to us; he said: ⦗162⦘ Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, from ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the ʿAṣr prayer while it was still broad daylight. He then rose and delivered a sermon in which he omitted nothing that would occur before the Hour is established; he informed us of it all. Whoever retained it, retained it, and whoever forgot it, forgot it. The people began to look nervously at the sun to see whether any of it remained above the horizon. Thereupon he said: ‘Lo, nothing is left of this world, in comparison to what has already passed of it, except what remains of this very day of yours compared with what has already elapsed of it.’”
