345 – 1273 al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Jarawī narrated: “Abū Saḥmāʾ al-Kalbī had risen to a considerable degree of worldly wealth and authority. Then he resolved to renounce it, abandoned every bit of it, and dedicated himself to worship and austere devotion.”
٣٤٥ - ثنا ١٢٧٣ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْجَرَوِيُّ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو السَّحْمَاءِ الْكَلْبِيُّ قَدْ بَلَغَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالسُّلْطَانِ مَبْلَغًا، ثُمَّ عَزَمَ لَهُ عَلَى الزُّهْدِ فِيهَا، فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ أَجْمَعَ، وَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْعِبَادَةِ وَالتَّنَسُّكِ "
