339 – Hārūn ibn ʿAbd Allāh told us; he said: Sayyār narrated to us; he said: Jaʿfar narrated to us; he said: Mālik ibn Dīnār narrated to us, who said that Abū Hurayrah declared:
“This worldly life is suspended between heaven and earth like a worn-out waterskin. From the day Allah created it until the day He will bring it to an end, it keeps calling out to its Lord: ‘My Lord, my Lord, why do You loathe me? My Lord, my Lord, why do You loathe me?’ And He says to it, ‘Silence, O nothingness; silence, O nothingness.’”
